About the Founder

Buluku Splinter is a dedicated educator and mental health advocate committed to fostering emotional well-being in school communities. As the Head of the Guidance and Counseling Department and School Welfare at Takaungu Secondary School, he has devoted his career to creating safe spaces where students and educators can openly discuss mental health, access vital resources, and receive the support they need to thrive.


Born and raised in a family of seven in a small village in Nandi County, Splinter understands firsthand the power of access to information in shaping lives. His deep passion for mental health stems from his belief that a clear and healthy mindset is the foundation for success without it, achieving our dreams remains elusive. This conviction has driven him to champion numerous initiatives aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and equipping individuals with the tools to navigate life’s challenges.


Through Headspace Diaries, Buluku envisions an interactive platform where school communities can engage, learn, and share their thoughts on mental health, fostering an open society that encourages self-expression and personal growth. His impact extends beyond physical spaces, having spearheaded an online mental health awareness campaign that reached students and educators across different regions.


With unwavering dedication, Buluku continues to inspire change, empowering individuals to take charge of their mental well-being while promoting conversations that pave the way for a healthier, more resilient society.

  • Leadership and Team Building: As the founder of the Takaungu Teachers Welfare Association and head of various departments, I’ve cultivated unity and collaboration among teams, ensuring effective execution of programs and goals.
  • Innovative Teaching Techniques: From Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for diverse learners to integrating technology into the classroom, I tailor my methods to optimize learning outcomes for all students.
  • Counseling and Mentorship: Leading the Guiding and Counseling Department, I focus on addressing mental health challenges and nurturing emotional well-being for students and staff alike.
  • Program Development and Management: My initiatives, such as tree planting programs, academic excursions, and debate clubs, enhance students’ skills in critical thinking, time management, and teamwork.
  • Community Engagement and Sustainability: As a long-time advocate for environmental conservation, I’ve driven projects that improve ecological awareness while fostering community unity.

Achievements That Inspire

My career has been shaped by the milestones I’ve reached alongside the communities I serve, including:

  • Designing a mental health library under the theme Books for Mental Health Management project to promote literacy and mental well-being.
  • Writing successful proposals to secure resources like sanitary towels for girls, ensuring uninterrupted education for hundreds of students.
  • Running a mental health campaign online, which sparked meaningful talks on matters mental health
